WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Dogs I've visited this summer

So far this summer has been wonderful. I'm enjoying the break from teaching, and REALLY enjoying making my own hours. It has allowed me to visit with some friends (and their dogs). Above are the dogs I've hung out with in the last month or so.

In the upper left we have Quincy, a mixed breed that belongs to my friends Tara and Vlad. I am currently doing sketches of Quincy, as he is the star of a children's book that Tara (a fantastic writer) and I are creating. To Quincy's right is Chewie, a very sweet Pit Bull mix, who was my buddy on the 4th of July. He belongs to Ryan and Rachel. And finally we have little Jake. You've seen my paintings of Jake in earlier posts, and here he is in photograph form. I recently designed something for Jake's mommy, Sharon. As I was working on my laptop, Jake found his way to my lap and nestled his head in the crook of my arm. SO CUTE!

I've got several canvases in the works that I'm very excited about. Two are commissions and five are for my breed series. I'm headed to the beach for two days but after that, I'll be painting like a fool!
