WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

The Owl and the Pussycat

"...And hand in hand,
at the edge of the sand,
they danced by the light of the moon,
the moon,
the moon.
They danced by the light of the moon."

This is my favorite verse from Edward Lear's The Owl and the Pussycat. I've illustrated this poem a few times, and this print is one of my illustrations. It actually is an intaglio print; I carved the image into Plexiglas. But the finished print just wasn't making me happy, so I picked up my first love in art supplies—colored pencils—and went to work coloring it. I like the result! This little print is available in my Etsy shop.

I've been working in oils and mosaic tiles almost exclusively for a long time. I forgot just how much I LOVE using colored pencils. I'm introducing them back into my repertoire. I hope they forgive me for ignoring them so long!

In the dog portrait department, I'm almost finished two commissions: a Yorkie and a Bichon. I'm excited about them both! They will be posted in a matter of days.
