WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

It's been a while since I painted a cat. This is only my third portrait of a cat ever. The first one I did for my mom's friend when I was in high school. Little did I know at the time that it would be the first of many pet portraits. I wonder if she still has it. Hmm.... The second cat painting was of my friend Brad's cat, Moo. That portrait happens to be the very first post I did on this blog. Now here is Flash, a very handsome cat with long whiskers. This portrait was commissioned by Laura as a present for her twin sister. Laura has a cat named Mouse, who looks just like Moo, so she bought a print of Moo for herself. And so concludes my cat portrait story. Hee hee.

As I type this, I am quite sick. The last several months have been incredibly busy and stressful and I think my body has finally rebelled. Time to slow down. Catch up on my correspondence with friends (I am soooo behind), write out some Christmas cards, etc. I planned to do a 100% handmade Christmas, but that would have required me to start making gifts in the summer. That didn't happen. Thank goodness for online shopping!

Happy holidays, everyone!
