WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Greece and grace

It's not 100% official yet, but close enough: I'm going to Greece! I applied for The Examined Life fellowship through Stockton College and won it. The program is for Southern New Jersey educators. I'll be reading many ancient texts (Homer, Euripedes, Aristophanes, etc.) and studying ancient Greek culture. I will be expected to implement what I learn into my teaching curriculum. I'll be doing a LOT of work, which isn't so bad because I miss being a student; I finished grad school over 2 years ago. Besides personal fulfillment, the payoff is a 10-day trip to Greece over Easter! I'm super excited, and a little scared (traveling with strangers, flying, and who-knows-why). I've always wanted to go to Greece and it's a phenomenal opportunity.

As for the grace part, well, let's just say it's only Monday and I'm already annoyed with everyone and everything. Ever have one of those days/weeks? I just pray for the grace to handle it all in stride, until things improve and I'm smiling again.

Time to get back to painting. I'm working on a chocolate lab next.... =D
