WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.
PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

I went to France for my honeymoon. We spent the majority of our time in Paris, but also took a river cruise on the Seine from Paris to Normandy and back again. It was glorious. I am an artist/art teacher and Kevin is a history buff/social studies teacher, so this trip was right up our respective alleys: we saw an overwhelming amount of art and architecture, and we visited the D-Day beaches.
I knew ahead of time that I'd be visiting several places that were special to one Mr. Claude Monet. So I stashed my little plush Claude Monet doll in my suitcase. I had the idea of photographing him in the areas where the real Claude Monet lived and painted. I wanted to do that ever since I saw how the garden gnome gets photographed around the world in Amelie.
So little Claude made an appearance in Honfleur, Giverny, and Rouen. I think the photos are adorable. Hopefully my students will too!
New dog portraits will be posted very soon....
