finally giving my mom her birthday present from last year. My sister, dad and I threw her a surprise party last year for her 60th. In all that hubbub of planning the party, I couldn't complete my present for her, which was a portrait of her dog, Abby. Then I got engaged, and all sorts of projects got put on the back burner, for the sake of planning a wedding in 7 months. So here I am a year later and I'll giving my mom double presents tonight. I hope the portrait will be worth the year-long wait!
Abby has blessed our lives with such joy. She's the cutest thing and a constant source of entertainment for everyone in my family. I think she helps ease the Empty Nest Syndrome for my parents. Kevin and I dogsat Abby last weekend. We were sad to give her back, but it prompted us to seriously talk about what kind of dog(s) we want to adopt next summer. Since we are both teachers, we'll have 10 weeks off to be home with the dog(s) and get he/she/them acclimated to our house and us. At the moment, the plan is a Cocker Spaniel and then a former racing Greyhound. We can't wait!
WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.
PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.
