It is a cold, cold January here on the east coast. And the month seems to be flying by. Not much time for art making these days, but I've been very busy with art planning. I have a lot of ideas for future projects; I just need to write/sketch them all down. One such idea involves the many photographs I've taken of dogs amongst ruins. They are mostly from my trip to Greece, but the photo above was taken in Ostia Antica, Italy.
I wrote briefly about the stray dogs in Athens when I got back from Greece. It's almost a year later and I'm still thinking about them. I love the visual juxtaposition of something alive and warm against something so cold and ancient. Along those lines, I also took a lot of photographs of flowery weeds sprouting up in the cracks of the ancient marble steps and columns. Beautiful stuff to see!
