WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Farm Dogs

This is the first of several holiday commissions. And, just like my last two posts, this one comes from my friend Eileen. These dogs reside on the farm where Eileen and her family ride horses. Eileen and the other farm patrons will be giving this painting to the owner of the farm for Christmas. Isn't that a great idea? The dog on the left is Pidgeon, a Cairn Terrier. Then we have Gracie, a Goldendoodle; and finally Ozzie, another Cairn Terrier. Usually it is difficult to use photos of individual dogs and create a composition in which they look like they are posed together. But in this case, it was easy. Eileen took a LOT of pictures (she is an excellent photographer) of the dogs in various positions. It was a breeze to compose them in Photoshop and develop a digital sketch before I did my drawing. Thanks again, Eileen! I hope everyone involved loves the portrait!

Three more holiday commissions to go. They're almost done...
