WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

30 in 30: Phase 2 Week 10: Gracie

Another pastel portrait. This one is of Gracie, a Sheltie/Golden mix. I love that sly look in her eyes. Her fur was fun to render in pastel; it took many layers! Gracie's mom, Kathy, is happy with the portrait and plans to purchase it. Thanks, Kathy!

I'm a little behind on my 30-in-30 paintings, but I needed to slow it down before Christmas, and eventually just. stop. painting. I enjoyed a wonderful holiday with family, then went down to the gulf coast of Florida for a vacation with more family. It was just what I needed to recharge the battery....but I must say, I missed making art! I'm back in NJ and ready to complete several partially-finished paintings this week.

So much more to talk about—my vacation, my One Little Word for 2010, the finished Mystery Artist portrait of Rosie. I'll be back soon. For now, I want to snuggle with my dog, whom I haven't seen in a week...
