WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Mystery Artist revealed!

>Portrait of my dog by Kathy Weller. Click the image to truly appreciate it.
The pet portrait I commissioned for Kevin has arrived and we both love it! I can now reveal the identity of the Mystery Artist. Drum roll, please.....It is Kathy Weller! I've admired her work for a long time, so I'm thrilled to own one of her originals. And guess what? I got her last pet portrait! Yep, Kathy is switching gears to focus on some new professional goals, and gracefully bowing out of the pet portrait biz. I contacted Kathy just in time! Kathy and I arranged a trade. I will be creating a portrait of her adorable Pugs. I can't wait!

The image above really doesn't do justice to how gorgeous the portrait is in person. Kathy is such a master at ink/watercolor; I'm in awe! The portrait of our girl includes all the things we like to do with her. If you look closely, you'll see our Jeep with the kayak on top, Kevin's surfboard, the beach and ocean, some seagulls (Rosie loves to chase them) and crabs (Rosie picks them up in her mouth sometimes—even the live ones!), and, of course, her favorite object in the world—her tennis ball!

Thank you, Kathy, for a beautiful painting! Kevin and I will treasure this always. I wish you luck and success in your new artistic endeavors!
