WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

30 in 30: Phase 2 Weeks 14 and 15: Kali and Brackett

Holy snow! We've been snowed in quite a bit here in southern NJ. Both Kevin and I are teachers, and so far this week he's had three snow days and I've had two. I love having so much extra time to paint; it is coming in handy as I'm quite behind with artwork lately. I almost forget what day of the week it is!

Here are my two latest 30 in 30 pieces: Kali and Brackett. Kali is a Shepherd/Great Dane mix. Brackett is a Lab/Pitt mix. Both of these gorgeous dogs belong to Jarred, who contributed the photos to my project. Thanks, Jarred! I hope you are happy with the portraits!

I recently spent a good amount of time putting a watermark on most of the images that appear on my Etsy shop and Facebook page. I created a Photoshop brush for the watermark, and applied it to many images using the Actions palette in Photoshop, which is a real time-saver. I'm thinking about trying my hand at a tutorial on how to do just that. I don't own a video camera, so any tutorial I put up here won't be as sophisticated as those I like to watch here, here, or here...but it would be informative nonetheless. Perhaps I'll give it a whirl.

In the meantime, back to the easel I go...

UPDATE: Both of these paintings have hung in juried art shows! They are both for sale right here.
