30 in 30 Phase 2, Week 16: ShrimpI meant to create this portrait over a year ago! Shrimp is the cutie pattootie canine brother of our friend Mike. Mike helps us out, watching Rosie 1-2 days a week. For free. My intention was to create a painting from a photograph I took of Shrimp, and give it to Mike so he could either keep it, or gift it to his parents (Shrimp's mommy and daddy). I finally included Shrimp in my 30-in-30 project, knowing that this way I was sure to complete the portrait.
This is my first portrait of a dog on the beach. The photograph I took of Shrimp did not include the ocean, just sand. But I played around with blue and white and, quite effortlessly, made some loose waves that I was quite happy with. Yay! It's good to switch things up once in a while. I have plenty of photographs of my own puppy on the beach; we take her there almost every day in the summer. Maybe my next portrait of Rosie will be a beach scene!
I miss the beach. I'm sick of the snow that just will. not. go. away. Unless I get another snow day (off from work) soon, I'm over winter!
On the easel: a Pekingese and a Maltese. On deck: a Golden + a Chihuahua, two Pugs, and a Pitt. Woof!
