WOOF! Thank you for visiting i heart dogs studio, the home of pet portraits lovingly painted by me, Christine Humphries Throckmorton. Since 2007, I have created custom pet portraits, prints, cards, and more, all featuring lovable canines (and the occasional feline). Scroll down, take a look around, click away. You'll see a wide variety of pet portraits, and get to know a bit about the girl behind the canvas.

PLEASE NOTE: Now that I have a toddler, I am no longer accepting commissions. For now, I am shelving the paintbrushes and just enjoying being MOM. I have a variety of original paintings, prints, and cards available in my shop, however, and there is a lot of dog art to peruse in the pages of this here blog. Enjoy.

they can show me in the world.” ~ Samuel Johnson

Wesley and Machen

30 in 30: Phase 2 Weeks 11 and 13: Wesley and Machen
This 30 Dog Paintings in 30 Weeks thing has me very behind. Quite a few partially-finished paintings are taking up real estate in my studio. I'm happy to have so much artwork going on, but since painting is not my full-time gig, it's difficult lately to find time each day to paint. But, that was the main reason for whole exercise—to find a way to incorporate a daily art practice into my life.

The holidays threw me totally off-kilter big time! Maybe a snow day or two will roll in and I can stay home in my cozy sweats, sip tea, and paint all day. Fingers are crossed...

Coming soon: my first portrait of a dog on the beach!

UPDATE: The painting of the Westie has been framed, and is for sale right here.
